Privacy Policy
Effective date: 4 March 2026 · Last updated: 4 March 2026
1. Who We Are
StockRead ("we", "us", or "our") is an AI-powered financial research platform that analyses annual reports of companies listed on BSE and NSE. Our service translates complex financial documents into plain-English summaries for Indian retail investors. We are operated as a personal project and are not a registered investment adviser under SEBI regulations.
For any privacy-related concerns, you can reach us at privacy@stockread.in.
2. Information We Collect
2.1 Information You Provide
- Account registration: Name and email address when you sign up with email, or your Google profile information (name, email, profile picture) when you use Google Sign-In.
- Email verification: We send a one-time passcode (OTP) to verify your email during sign-up.
- Payment information: If you subscribe to a paid plan, payment details are handled by our third-party payment processor. We do not store your card details.
2.2 Information Collected Automatically
- Usage data: Pages visited, searches performed, companies and reports viewed, and feature interactions.
- Device and log data: IP address, browser type, operating system, referring URLs, and timestamps of requests.
- Cookies and local storage: Session identifiers and preference settings to keep you logged in and improve your experience.
2.3 Information From Third Parties
- Google OAuth: If you choose to sign in with Google, we receive your name, email, and profile picture from Google as permitted by you during the OAuth consent.
- Public company data: We source annual reports and financial filings from BSE/NSE public disclosures. No personal data is involved.
3. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account and authenticate you securely.
- To deliver the core service — generating AI-powered analysis of annual reports based on your queries.
- To send transactional emails such as OTP codes, account confirmations, and billing receipts.
- To improve the platform by understanding how features are used and diagnosing technical issues.
- To comply with applicable Indian laws, including the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (DPDP Act) once its provisions come into effect.
- To detect and prevent fraud, abuse, or unauthorised access.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data to third parties for marketing purposes.
4. AI Processing
Our analysis engine uses large language models (LLMs) to process annual report content. The documents processed are publicly available corporate filings. Your search queries and prompts may be sent to our AI providers (such as Google Gemini or OpenAI) to generate responses. We do not share your personal account details with these providers. Queries are processed transiently and are not used to train third-party AI models unless explicitly permitted by those providers' enterprise agreements.
5. Data Retention
We retain your account information for as long as your account is active. Analysis history and cached report data are retained to improve response speed for subsequent queries. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal data within 30 days, except where retention is required by law or for legitimate business purposes such as fraud prevention.
6. Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures including HTTPS encryption for data in transit, hashed passwords (we never store plain-text passwords), and access controls on our database infrastructure. No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. We encourage you to use a strong, unique password for your StockRead account.
7. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to maintain your authenticated session. We may also use analytics cookies (e.g., from a privacy-preserving analytics provider) to understand aggregate usage patterns. You can disable cookies in your browser settings, but this may prevent you from logging in.
8. Third-Party Services
We rely on the following third-party services which may process your data under their own privacy policies:
- Google (Sign-In & AI): Google Privacy Policy
- Email delivery provider (for OTPs and notifications).
- Payment processor (for paid subscriptions).
- Cloud infrastructure provider (hosting and database).
9. Your Rights
Subject to applicable law (including the DPDP Act, 2023), you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate information.
- Request deletion of your account and associated personal data.
- Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is consent-based).
To exercise any of these rights, email us at privacy@stockread.in. We will respond within 30 days.
